Who We Are: Khalsa Foundation

Khalsa Foundation is a registered UK charity with a mission to empower individuals on their spiritual journey. We believe in creating positive change by encouraging a deeper, more conscious way of living. Our work is rooted in the principles of Sikhi, focusing on personal growth, selfless service (Seva), and community building.

  • What We Do

We offer a variety of programs and events designed to provide a comprehensive and practical understanding of Sikhi for everyone, regardless of their background. Our projects are designed to be accessible and engaging, encouraging an exploration of spirituality in the modern world.

  • Khalsa Camp

Our flagship project, Khalsa Camp, is the longest-running Sikh residential retreat in the UK. It offers individuals from all backgrounds an immersive experience to practice meditation, engage in spiritual discussions, and connect with others. These camps have now expanded globally, with branches in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and India.

    Khalsa Darbar

These are specialised events led by field experts, focusing on the philosophy and history of Sikhi, typically held at Gurdwaras across the UK.

    Khalsa Family Retreat

A unique retreat designed for the entire family to learn and grow together, providing a supportive environment for parents and children to explore Sikhi as a unit

    Khalsa Talks

Aimed at those with a Western upbringing, these talks explore how to find spirituality and inner connection in modern society.

    Khalsa Shop

An online shop where proceeds go directly to funding our charitable projects. We offer affordable Sikh-related items like spiritual literature, clothing, and art

Our Story

The Khalsa Foundation was born from a collective yearning for deeper spiritual knowledge among young UK Sikhs in the 1980s. Facing language barriers and a lack of detailed spiritual teaching in Gurdwaras, a group of students came together to create an organization that would make Gurmat (Sikh teachings) accessible to all.

In 1990, we held our very first Khalsa Camp in Bangor, Wales. It was a resounding success, proving the widespread need for such an experience. After a brief hiatus, the camp was revived in the 2000s by a new generation of volunteers and has since expanded its reach and projects. Since becoming a registered charity in 2015, we've continued to grow, launching new initiatives like the Khalsa Family Retreat and The Sikh Parenting Course. Our enduring goal is to help people "Discover the Spirit Within"—not through words alone, but through authentic experience.
